According to regulations, Functional foods imported into our country must be announced at the Ministry of Health before being released to the market.

Dossier of publication of dietary supplements
According to Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, Documents announcing functional foods include::
- The product announcement is specified in Form No. 02, Appendix I issued under the decree.
- Certificate of free circulation (Certificate of Free Sale) or export certificate (Certificate of Exportation) or medical certification (Health Certificate) issued by the competent authority of the country of origin with all the required content.
- Test result card for the product within 12 months
- Scientific evidence proves the product's effectiveness
- In case there are documents in a foreign language, they must be translated into Vietnamese and notarized.
Besides, businesses need to provide:
- Product sample (300 g or 300 ml)
- Business registration certificate (scan the original)
- Certificate of free circulation/export certificate/health certificate with full content as required.
- Manufacturer standards for products (Specificate of product)
Process of announcing functional supplements
The process of carrying out procedures for declaring functional foods will take 40-60 working days. The product testing process will take place within 7-10 working days. (Note: The implementation of functional food announcement procedures must be prepared before bringing goods in to avoid storage.)
Steps to publish dietary supplements include::
- Step 01: Create a business account on the department's site: http://congbosanpham.vfa.gov.vn;
- Step 02: Log in and create an online profile (Upload the excel file and the above documents in pdf format): http://congbosanpham.vfa.gov.vn/HomePage.do;
- Step 03: Pay appraisal fee online;
- Step 04: Edit or add (if requested by the department), then re-upload the profile;
- Step 05: Pay the application fee;
- Step 06: Receive profile results (download from the bureau's site).

Procedures for importing food supplements, functional foods

- Goods import declaration;
- Bill of lading;
- Commercial invoice;
- Goods packing slip;
- Announcement of dietary supplements (or product announcement receipt form);
- Document certifying the origin of goods (if any);
- Quality inspection registration certificate.
When the goods are dietary supplements, functional foods arrive at ports in Vietnam, Businesses need to carry out procedures for importing supplementary foods, following functional foods:
- Proceed to register the declaration of imported functional food products according to regulations;
- Khai & transmit the customs declaration attached to the approved registration paper;
- Go through customs procedures and bring the goods to the warehouse for storage;
