CMA CGM announced the application of exceeding the amount of Asian line weight – Northern Europe

CMA-CGM ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPLICATION OF OVERWEIGHT FEE FOR ASIA TO NORTHERN EUROPE ROUTE

CMA CGM, The world's third largest shipping company in terms of container shipping volume has announced the application of an excess weight surcharge. (Overwight Surcharge – OWS) New on Asia route – Their Nordic. This new surcharge level officially applies from September 15, 2022 (calculated by loading date) until further notice.

This surcharge will apply to all 20 dry containers′ (20’DC/DV/GP) queuing from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong & Macau to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Ba Lan & Baltic Sea region.

The applicable OWS surcharge is USD 150/20'DC for total container weight equal to or greater than 20 tons.

Total container weight (Container Gross weight) = Total weight of goods contained inside (Gross cargo weight) + Weight of container shell (Tare weight).
If calculated on average, each container has 20′ has a shell weight of 2,23 tons, Thus, the customer can only pack a total weight of goods in the container of 17,77 tons so as not to incur surcharges over this weight.
